Rank: 2nd Degree Black Belt Brazilain Jiu JItsu
Ishmael first trained in Kenpo Karate beginning in 1994, and receiving his black belt in 1998. He further expanded his training by studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with a Carlson Gracie Jr. affiliate in 1998. After relocating to Minnesota in 1999 he joined the MMAA. In June 2006 he received his Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Professor Pedro Sauer, he is currently a 2nd Degree Black Belt. He has competed in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and combat submission grappling style competitions.
Coach Ishmael heads up the Academy BJJ Competiton Team. He has trained under some of the worlds best BJJ coaches and has trained in Brazil directly with Pedro Sauer. He holds a Bachelors degree in Physics and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky and a Masters in Biomedical Engineering from Clemson University. He is available for BJJ seminars for Competition & Self-Defense.
